Background
Food for special medical purposes (FSMP), which is used for nutrition supplement and support for target population, has been widely recognized over the international community. FSMP is, however, still a new food category in China: it has only been five years since the establishment of its registration system stipulated in Food Safety Law , and it has been less than three years since the first product was approved for registration. In addition, the early supervision of such products in China was relatively chaotic, thus, the cognition of consumers and enterprises planning to enter FSMP industry needs to be further improved.
Fortunately, according to the recent consulting situation from CIRS, we found that enterprises have asked more valuable questions related to FSMP, indicating that they are gradually comprehensive on this kind of products.
