South Korea Plans to Add Eight Reproductive Toxic Substances to the List of Hazardous Substances Subject to Management

The Ministry of Employment and Labor of South Korea released the proposed amendment to the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency (KOSHA) for public consultation on April 25, 2022, planning to add eight reproductive toxic substances to the list of “hazardous substances subject to management”.

These eight substances in the proposed amendment are listed in the following table:

There are a total of 173 substances on the list of “hazardous substances subject to management” under the KOSHA currently. Enterprises shall comply with relevant regulations when dealing with these substances, and employers shall inform workers of the hazardous properties of these substances to guarantee they take appropriate measures for safety consideration, such as installing exhaust ventilation systems and wearing protective equipment.
